Walnut cake/Tea cake

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups All purpose flour 
1 1/2 tsp baking powder 
1 cup sugar
1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature
1/8 tsp salt
1/3 cup chopped walnuts 

Wet Ingredients:
3 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 tbsp vanilla extract 

For the glaze: (Optional)
1 tbsp honey

Step 1:
Preheat the oven to 350F/180C. Line a 7×4 loaf tin or a 5×5 cake tin with butter paper or parchment paper, butter the sides.

Step 2:
Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl and set aside.

Step 3: 
Add the eggs, milk, butter and vanilla extract and beat until you reach a creamy consistency. (You can do this using a stand mixer or a hand mixer).

Step 4: 
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and run the mixer for 1 minute or until the batter is airy and fluffy. Then add the chopped walnuts and fold into the batter. Make sure there is no dry flour left.

Step 5:
Transfer batter to the buttered cake tin and bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

Step 6:
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Release the cake by running a knife on the sides of the cake. 

Step 7 (Optional):
You can glaze the top of the cake with honey using a brush. 

Serve with a cup of hot tea!

Note:

Make sure the Eggs, milk and butter are at room temperature .
