Welcome to my blog “Akila’s Kitchen Diary”! Here, you will find an array of recipes from south Indian curries, chutneys and sweets to cakes, cookies and breads. You will find recipes that will make your mouth water and take your taste buds on an adventure across various cuisines. My blog will feature a step by step guide to all the (vegetarian) recipes that I have tried (and of course tasted).
I am Akila Arvind, I am from Chennai, India. I currently live in Buffalo, New York with my husband. Being a big foodie my passion for cooking and baking started when I was around 10 years old. I used to observe whatever my mom cooked and make notes of the recipes and try to cook all by myself and share it with family and friends.
My mom is the greatest cook in our family and is my biggest inspiration when it comes to cooking, she is my best food critic. My dad and brother on the other hand were usually the scapegoats to taste the food I prepared, now the role is taken over by my husband. All their love, encouragement and criticism [of course] motivated me to learn more and try new recipes.
Given the fast paced world that we live in, people often choose to have processed food on-the-go that are made with endless list of ingredients containing synthetic substitutes and fillers. Through this blog I hope to motivate fellow foodies around the world by sharing my tried and tested recipes and inspire you to take control of what goes into your food and enjoy the resultant sights, sounds and smells of home made food!
